Do you know what type of learner you are? This is the most important step in beginning. Do you learn best by listening, watching or a little of both? If you learn by listening, if you are trying to take notes, you will probably end up doing worse than if you just listened to the teacher. On the other hand, if you learn by doing, you will have to take good notes. Make note of everything the teacher harps on or considers important. Don't be concerned about getting it down neatly or in order. Just get it down. After you have everything on paper you need to go back and make a logical map of all your notes. It's amazing how re-writing and going back through your notes causes a light bulb to go off in your head.
