I've never heard of a barebone laptop that you acutally buy and build on your own, as the parts for the laptops aren't generally sold to the public. But before you pay a hefty amount for gaming laptops from Dell or Alienware, you should take a look at Sager:
www.sagernotebook.com
They have the same exact notebooks as Alienware (Dell I'm not sure of, although the specifications are just the same if not better), in fact, all companies such as Alienware and Dell buy their laptops from manufactures such as Sager, Quanta, etc... and then just put their brand name on it and jack up the price.
Another thing you should note is that Direct X 10 graphic cards are about to come out with the arrival of Vista, and current graphic cards on gaming laptops do not support Direct X 10, which means you can't take advantage of the full potential of the Aero GUI in Vista, and the new games coming out just for vista, which looks really good (look up Crysis.)

i think it's xps 2010, because it has gaming keyboard and mouse so it is comfortable to play games. and it has cool features like you said.
if you need more information about the xps.
go to: www.dell.com, and search for gaming notebooks.

The best laptop is the one that you make yourself because you can soup it up to the max, and if you need to update it, you can, unlike most consumer laptops. Barebones laptops are what I'm talking about. It's expensive, but then again, so are yours.
