unfortunately, because of Bush... the world hates us.
The sad thing is that Americans are completely blind/oblivious as to how much the world really hates us..

Unfortunately, what I get from the media most often has incredible bias. However, sifting out as best I can, I don't think much of our "image." Additionally, from CSpan & interviews with informed, & intelligent persons, I'm not proud of it. I'm very concerned about AP news alert on line today--a quote I'd SEEN & heard--& the evasive comments from the administration later. I care very much. I feel I'm being stereotyped as an "American" in much the same way people from other countries are being stereotyped. A logical progression of thought would be, what can I do? The answer is--blowing in the wind, my friend.
Edit: Re "locksmith"--your question in no way intimated that you "hated" us. Although many, justifably, do.
Edit: "Warren Peace"--Would you speculate who will "trigger war 3?" It's all been set up, just as Iraq was. Even Pace states that we have no proof that Iran is reinforcing Iraq, but then, whatever happened to those weapons of mass destruction?

It is worse than it has ever been, and it may never return to the level of admiration and respect that Bush inherited from Clinton.
And here is a message for all the dullards who say they do not care what the world thinks: You will care when the next attack kills millions of Americans.
The next attack will be so big that it will make everyone forget about 9/11. The only way to stop it is by having accurate and timely intelligence. If we have no friends, we are screwed.
Immediately after 9/11, both Iran and Syrian provided us with value intelligence pinning the 9/11 attacks on Bin-laden and tracking him to Afghanistan. I doubt we can expect similar cooperation any time in the near future.
Countries do not have to DO anything to jeopardize American security. They just have to be lazy or casual in passing along their intelligence data, and that will provide the window of opportunity that the terrorists need.
Just because we are the biggest kid in the schoolyard, it does not mean that we are safe. We still need friends to watch our back. Without that, many Americans are going to be needlessly killed.
Let’s hear how tough you guys talk when the Big One hits home with your families.

I am a Brit living in the States and from what I see, most Americans are not aware of how the rest of the world percive them. If I were to watch American TV and read American newspapers I would see very little of world news. I have to keep my BBC america and watch some of the satelite chanels in order to see what is going on outside the boarders of the USA. Don't get me wrong, I chose to live here and I am not complaining, but I think Americans in general do not get given enough information. Whoever controls the media controls what the public sees and gets to know, and that is a much narrower view than we get in the UK.

The image of America, is perceived while viewing the eyes, and lies of our current dishonest President and his puppets.
The image of Americans is as we would hope it to be. Caring, and willing to help the World as it should be for all life. Not through missiles with Warheads, but through Peaceful interaction.
I very much care. Thank you...

It seems kinda foolish to speculate, since all we really have are media reports about international reactions to our policies. Not to imply that those reports aren't accurate, but how comprehensive are they? All we really get are the responses of high officials, which of course are going to be critical. Those then trickle down to their respective constituents, so the official response subsequently becomes the consituent reponse as well. I just don't trust that we're the evil behemoth that the media reports we are. I'm not saying that there's not criticism (and that it's not justified), but we do do a lot of good in the world too.

I think that the current American government is not liked very much in many parts of the world, however in my experience, dislike of the government does not always translate in dislike of Americans. i've talked to people in Europe and the Middle East who did not approve of American foreign policy, but had no problem with Americans as individuals. I think most people recognise that not everyone in the US shares the views of our policymakers.

IMHO Americans are self loathing, greedy, rude, and very impatient people! I have been abroad several times in my life and even the "third world countries" as we call them have more etiquette and manners than most Americans do. "I'm free and I deserve everything I can get” is Americas MOTTO!!!
