I am going to try provide a little insight from a Singaporean-Chinese point of view because they form the majority. What you have generalised are "generally correct". They are all that you described.
Root cause: 1. Family background 2. Upbringing 3. Spore-Chinese culture (not applicable to other Chinese overseas) 4. Societal pressure
I'm sure you're familiar with Spore-orininated word: "kiasu" (Hokkien dialect meaning "afraid to lose out"; keeping up with the Joneses and being one up over others). This is interesting because "kiasu" reflects the people's attitude and approach to live, work and play. A sort of continuous drive, ambition to always strive to be the best they can be, they get as much as possible.... ). Sadly the "kiasu" culture is also evident in Christian churches in Spore (personal experience).
In an insane, highly competitive society positive characteristic traits of a people have been sacrificed: civility, manners, benevolence, etc - Sporeans have been 'dehumanized' to a certain extent by being caught up in this rat race. They have to be made to toe the line by the authorities with the threat of monetary fines; not through the people's own civic consciousness and duty
One cannot change one's Chinese cultural background and its core traits and some of this charcteristic traits and behaviour are also evident in the Chinese in China and in other Chinese communities in S E Asia. There is this subconscious in us overseas Chinese that no one but no one will feed us IF we don't do our utmost to survive and prosper (remember we are a minority community in any adopted country).
All these are not excuses to be what we are (there is no excuse to be rude - look at the Japanese in their pressure cooker society yet they retain all the civility of a courteous people).
Singapore is a manufactured country; and often times I have said that it is a nation without a soul.

I agreed, but not limited to Singaporean only. You will meet this type of personality in most of the developing country. I think it may be due to stressful city life.
There are a lot of kind soul around also, don't juz look at the negative. Be positive, life will not be miserable.

I had a friend from China who previously work in Singapore told me that he will not worry if he lost his wallet. As in two occassion, his lost wallet was returned to him by you so called "complicated, uncontented, scheming, boring & rude" Singaporean. For the second time, the person even passed the wallet to my friend personally at my friend door step. Everything in the wallet, including cash was intact.
I agreed that Singaporean are very stressful and impatient, but I am more certain that most of them are kind in heart. I believe in world, no other city, where your wallet was return to you in two occassion.

That's a sweeping statement and an obvious generalisation. Not all Singaporeans are like that.

You must have meet many such Singaporeans. Well, from my encountered, many Asians are like this, not just Singaporeans. It's probably Asian Culture. Oh,I'm from Asia too lol

you seems to be really pissed off, i know some people are like what you mention but not all of them are like them. anyway stress at work and environmental changes have a big impact as well, and other countries also have people like what you said not only in Singapore, so chill, cheers

HAHA... every countries has gt ppl like wat u mentioned. Do not stereotype everyone as a whole. a rotten apple in a basket doesnt mean all the apples there r rotten. i do know some r like wat u mentioned...esp if u r in service line..u will reli c the ugly side of sporean... but there r also ppl of such characters of other nationality or citizenship

Treat people nicely and they will treat you well in return.
I guess you need to know how people interact over here. Maybe its you, think about it.
If you're caucasian, DO NOT fall into the perceived stereotypical image of one. like clearly knowing that the person you're speaking to speaks barely any english, dont go speaking perfect queens tongue to them. try to be more charming, speak simply. learn a phrase of chinese like thanks, "xie xie".
Smile often, dont give up being nice. :) and i seriously think you're overly generalizing! tad rude. tsk. maybe you need to move into a good heartland. sunset way maybe? though its not really heartland heartland.
Anyway, people often notice bad traits over the good ones, just like how the news only publishes tragedies, negative stuff, etc.

because many ppl did not file POLICE reports
bear in mind that it is a great hassle to go to Court
defence lawyers, Queens ' Counsels IQ much higher than the average person, n will shoot u with ALL types of questions in Court during cross examinations
n ALL they need to do is to catch u saying the wrong things or contradictions
n they will then say
'' You r a LIAR ''
