Im 18, and about to graduate high school... and if i dont keep my saturn, then ill ask for some help in buying a new car... SO! Im into older imports or anything that has a four cylinder or a few muscle cars with a v-8... I want a GREAT idea as to what has the best gas milelage, whats the least expensive, whats the most powerful OR whats a great car to soup up and get power while getting good gas milelage? Some ideas to start with:
Honda Civic Si (please state best year(s)); Honda Prelude (Please best year(s)); '04-06 Mustang... GT; 2007 Saturn ion RedLine; '89-95 Nissan 240sx; Honda S2000; '98-99 Corvette; '04-06 Impereza WRX; Et Cetera...
I would say my limit is about $19000... so, what might be the best turner, or car in general thats cheap and great to upgrade... w/e, give me some good ideas on what to buy, or what to buy and what to do to the car.
Thanks a bunch, y'all

to actually answer your question
honda- no, si maybe if you get after market parts like a turbo
Mustang- i have had problems with ford in the past, esp. ford
racing , there goes gas milage
S2000 has some punch but your insur. will be high in anything less than a 3 door.
Corvette- "hi i would like to get a quote for a 18 yr old with a
corvette." "hahahahahahahaha yeah right bud"
Wrx at those years will not likely be 19k
I would jump on the SRT4. small engine for gas mileage with a turbo giving you close to 250hp. plus aturbo only effects gas mileage if you step on it. tons of aftermarket support as well

A high school graduate with a 19K spending limit...?
I think somebody wasn't told NO enough, when they were little.
(unless YOU have saved all this money from working and gifts)
If somebody else is footing the bill...Then you need to be happy that you have a car!
If you are starting work after high school, then I would suggest that you narrow your search down a bit, regarding what you like, then watch the sales. (the tax time sales are a great time to find good deals)
If you are going to college, I think you need to be worried about the classes rather than how much speed you have!
Again, here is the "Be glad you have a car"
While power and fuel economy do NOT generally go hand in hand, you CAN obtain a very nice balance IF you know how to tune your engine properly.
I noticed that you overlooked diesel engines. They are worth looking into, considering the rise in petro, and the rise in bio-fuels
(They are also VERY tunable, and VERY reliable)
My truck has only failed to start due to weak glow plugs. (which were an easy fix)
I also think that an 18 or 19 year old high school graduate sitting behind the wheel of ANY Corvette, is a tree waiting for a wreath!
Learn HOW to drive before you get behind some real power!

with your driving checklist i think of this is truly useful to decelerate somewhat and wait, purely analyzing your placed up, i prefer pull you over and supply you a value tag. you're probably going to have extra worry insuring the automobile than buying it. the way the financial equipment is calling presently, i'd paintings a twelve months and then purchase the automobile. build up your credit via charging some thing else and paying it off while you wait the twelve months. i understand you do no longer prefer to pay attention this yet a automobile is amazingly some duty. purely like the privilege of having a drivers license. in case you have a dismiss for the regulations of the line, then I valuable wish my kin isn't accessible once you come rushing via on your new automobile doing ninety miles an hour. take care and be careful

Holy... 18 and you have 19k to drop on a car?? You must have a very rich dad or are about to make a very big mistake!
If you need a fast car, get a camaro or firebird with a v8, it's not original, but nice and simple. Don't spend 19k, if anything keep your saturn if nothings wrong with it. Only problem with a sports car however is the high insurance on them. Male, 18, sports car = thousands a year you're spending in insurance.

Early honda CRX 88-91. Throw away the old engine with 200k on it and drop a B18 engine, and maybe a turbo. A little suspension work and body work and you'll have a great fast car.

Get the Mustang. But be careful. Speed kills, especially inexperienced young drivers like yourself. But it also kills others. Remember that. Learn to drive before you go for speed. Or you end up killing someone or yourself or both. Seriously. You want to drive fast? You've never seen a serious accident, have yah. Speed kills, even you. But I don't really care about you, just don't kill me in the process of your growing up!

Good gas mileage and speed are not synonymous, beside, a person your age don't have a need for speed, unless you are planning to race it at a sanctioned event. If not, follow the speed limit, man.
