No, schools don't generally close for freezing rain or even snowstorms unless they are severe. Buses are usually cancelled though.

Freezing rain would not normally be bad enough to close schools, but it really depends on the area. I went to school in Colorado. A few times I waited for the school bus standing in knee-deep snow in 20 below zero temperatures. However, if Florida or a state with similar had freezing rains, they might close schools. Florida drivers are not used to driving on ice, so it would be dangerous.

It depends on where you live, and how bad the icing is. If you get over 1/4" of icing, you can bet that school will be cancelled.

Do you live in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, or Kentucky? Because if you're getting the stuff we've been getting here in southern Ohio where I live, yes school will be canceled.

Otherwise, it's unlikely unless there's ice accumulation.

it depends if it is alot of freezing rain or not if it is not alot u will just stay in school like my stupid school wouldnt let us get out when it was snowing really hard so just keep ur hopes up!

your weather channel should say something about that. i'm guessing it will be. it always is here in south texas. be dont have trucks that salt the roads that are so readily available in the north. so if it poses a risk to drivers then yes they will cancel school.

Yeah. Just a coating of ice, they close all schools no matter where you are.
