Are you talking about M L King or Martin Luther? Neither of them believed in predestination, though.
Predestination is the doctrine of Calvin that God has "predestined" every person, from the beginning, to heaven or hell. There is therefore nothing a person can do to change his fate. However, you can generally tell by a person's behavior....maybe.
This doctrine is troubling if you believe in free will or justice, and I don't think it is very popular anymore....
