I noticed that they use tracing paper, but I'm not too sure why. It looks like they do sketches, but why wouldn't use just do that on regular paper? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am just curious.

Your character remains relatively the same throughout your graphic novel... tracing paper allows you to re-daw the character to the same proportions easily. You can also copy repetitive backgrounds easily this way.

Further, markers draw very cleanly and blend well on good tracing paper, and the marker lines don't bleed or feather. Plus it's cheaper than other papers!

Becuase regular paper is thicker than tracing paper allowing to make the pencil move more freely

It allows them to make minor corrections quickly and try different visual options based on their other drawings.
