I'd prefer if it were a "lighter" topic (ie. NOT abortion, genocide etc) and more towards the funny side (ie. whether or not parents should tell kids that Santa exists)

Should drivers be allowed to use cell phones?

I think you're onto something...why not go with the santa thing? It could be fun! People debate over that every Christmas, they really do! Last year I was listening to a morning radio show and they devoted half the morning to debating the santa issue and taking calls on it! People really do get so worked up about it! :) Good luck!

Well, you could debate about whether Bush is smart or not. I mean I see comedians doing it all the time. They are funny. Or models BMI recommendations. These might sound weird, but with the right people it could be fun. Good luck!
