I get kick out of all the dippy answers on this question. Most don't even have the slightest in-linking with the problem.

Global warming causes a shift in the jet stream and a shift in the El Nino as well as the mid-Atlantic oscillation. It causes the northern storm fronts to shift to the north and not moderate by moving into the southern warming air mass. Result, you get above normal snowfall and lower temperatures in the northern latitudes.

FYI - as global warming increases, the chances are excellent that the Gulf stream will be stopped. If this occurs, We will experience a small ice age! Crazy ain't it? The Gulf Stream warms Europe and Greenland, without it, Europe will freeze and right after, northern regions of the Americas will follow.

Global Warming will not have its full potentional release until years from now. There are conditions called Carbon Sinks, when cars burn fuel, or when factories burn coal its released into the atmosphere where it stays for many years. Trees and other sources pull carbon from the atmosphere, which it is very essential to have lush forests to pull carbon from the atmosphere. However there is about a 20 year delay from what we see for adverse effects. The warming we are experiencing right now was from the pollution roughly 20years ago. To see the full effects of global warming, we would have to not pollute for around 20 years, turn off all cars, factories, and no deforestation to see the full effects of global warming and how much the earth has warmed up. But its the problems we will see down the road that scientists are worried about. And again there are so many other factors to consider, Malanovich cycles, Tilt of the earths axis relative to the suns incoming rays, CO2, SO4, H2O and other earth warming aerosols. But to get back to your question, nah not in our life time will we have an imminent threat, even if we consumed and populated at an exponentional rate, however, your grand kids could be in big big trouble, as sea levels rise, you have deseritification, droughts, famine, shifting wind patterns + ocean currents, killing off species in water and land...ect

I know what you mean, we are having the worst snow storm we have had in years!! We are completely snowed in but I guess I can't complain because our weather has been really mild all winter. Some people would be thrilled if we people in Indiana would stay warm all the time so they are probably all for global warming!! The world is becoming a scary place to live.

Global Warming is a serious issue that is currently facing the entire planet. Global Warming however is a misnomer that became popularized by the media and public. A more adept term for it would be Climate Change. So if you are in Florida and it is snowing then be afraid. However if you are in NYC (yeah baby) and you can still taste the 70 temps from January then it is obvious that this sudden change is not in mother nature's portfolio. Global Warming is serious please do not cheapen it with 'smart' comments

What is it with everyone and global warming. I bet you got to school or work today via car or bus. So what are you doing about it except preaching on Yahoo Answers?
