How long has it been that he took the Advil? He may need to take it again. Remember the over the counter is not as strong as the prescription kind. He can take three of the store bought ones. Make sure he drinks water, tea, juice any liquids. The 102.5 isn't that bad for the flu. Put cool compresses on his head and he can put them on his tummy and back of neck too. Replace often and take the Advil every 6 hrs. Maybe add a Tylenol in there too. rotate them, sometimes one works better than the other, have to watch the stomach with Advil. If he is drinking and doesn't get hotter than 103.5 he will be OK. Make sure he drinks..chicken soup is great, even just broth or a bullion cube in hot water. Anything you can get him to drink. Any vitamin C or Orange juice tom. will be good not tonight, just clear liquids. Tell him if he does this you'll let him stay home OK. Keep the compresses coming and the liquids...can't stress it enough. You may want to change the sheets tonight or tom. if he's been on them for a few hours. that will make him feel better and keep the germs away, wash and try to keep all his clothing and stuff laundered if possible to stop it from spreading. Cool sheets always feel good when you are sick. Then the anti fever meds to keep him cool. Good luck. If you feel this is not a flu type thing or he has history of any disease he needs to go to the Dr. If he has headache, sore throat or stuffy head it's the flu and this is the correct treatment. If not he may need the Dr. your call.

I agree with the previous answer. So many people go to the ER when it isn't really warranted. Antibiotics are becoming yesterday's news due to the fact that they are being over prescribed. Fluids, compresses, clean clothing and bedding, and keeping an eye on temps are the way to go. Fluids Fluids Fluids. There is a good chance that your dad can and will become dehydrated. Make sure you get as much fluid as possible into him. His body is fighting an illness and it needs help. See if he'll eat a Popsicle. Electrolytes are a problem too, he needs more than just water. Juice provides calories.

there is a flu going around and some aches can be in the back. and 102.5 temp is high for an adult.try an ice pack (protected with a towel to the skin) on his spine. this is quickest way i know to bring down temp. between that and advil something should be working soon. other wise to the hosp he goes

Stuff like this happens. It's life, just not life right now. Pay attention to the good things now. Cross that bridge when you get there. Try calming yourself down by rubbing under your collarbone with 2 fingers. Hope this helped! :D

You shouldn't be too worried. It sounds like he just has the flu. Only be worried if his fever goes over 104 or if he has a heart condition. Otherwise, tell him to drink lots of fluids, and get a lot of rest. He could go see a family doctor, but there is no need for him to go to the emergency room.

Tell him that there will be a huge bill for having to go to the hospital so if he doesn't want to pay the bill then he should go in the tub... that usually gets them
