chicago could definitely pull a major upset on some of the favorites (pistons, cavs, heat). The playoffs are all about grind it out, lockdown defensive games and the bulls have 4 guys who could shut down the other team's go to guy. Ben can cover shaq, sheed, C-webb. Nocioni and Deng are physical and tough defenders in the wings and could do some damage to Lebron and prince. at the guard spot, hinrich is one of the best on-ball defender in the east. he has had some success against wade in the past and could definitely stay with rip and billups.
In the west, its a toss up between the rockets and the lakers. these two teams could wind up #5 and #6 and a first round collision with the spurs and jazz. but if I were to pick one, my vote goes to the lakers simply because they have Phil and Kobe in the playoffs. also, the lakers match up very well against either the jazz and the spurs. if they survivie round one then they might get a grudge match with the suns. lakers and suns - we know what happened last year and its anyones guess who will prevail this time.

Lakers.. The best coach with the best player in the league. Phil Jackson, Kobe and the Lakers are a way more different team in the playoffs than in the regular season. With the improving performance of Maurice Evans, Jordan Farmar and Valdimir Radmanovic, the Lkaers will be a threat in the west. The return of Luke Walton and Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom's close to complete game and Kobe being unselfish, they are one trade role player trade away from being called an elite team. They are still young..
Houston Rockets is the other threat but if you play Lakers vs. Rockets in a seven game series, I think the lakers will win it in 6 games.

San Antonio. They may be counted out right now during the regular season because of the brilliance of Dallas and Phoenix, but during the playoffs, their wisdom and experience will be a greater factor than anything else.
Houston could also do well. A healthy Yao and TMac could bring their team quite deep.
The Hornets could make waves as well. If they can get all their player healthy they can be very good. That team 71 rebound performance against milwaukee shows you how good they can really be.

Well, out front I believe it will be the Mavs & Pistons in the finals. But teams that could pull upsets:
LA Lakers are underrated if they can pull it together they have talent with Bynum, Odom & Walton.
In the East watch for the Bulls to pull out a couple wins untill they reach the Pistons. They almost de-railed the Heat last year and now have added some attitude with Ben and Hinrich now has experience. Watch out.

magic. The West has no sleepers. It will go down to Phoenix & dallas. East is a toss up. Anybody who makes the playoffs can win the East. The magic have Dwight, so they could win as easily as anyone else.

I'll take the Wizards. They have beaten good teams like the Suns and Mavericks. Gilbert Arenas has made the most buzzer beaters/game winning shots in the league this year. And they have an underrated all-star in Caron Butler. I think this team could go far in the weak Eastern Conference.

houston, definetely. while the suns and mavs are the favorites in the west...with the spurs still in contention, rockets can do some damage if theyre healthy. a big IF. not only do they have to worry about t-mac's back but yao's health also. he should be back by playoff time but he's gotta get back into the groove and get him conditioning and timing back. this is a very strong defensive team...

i think of that the sleeper team would be Portland. appropriate now they have the 6 seed meaning that they are going to stand the Rockets interior the 1st around. Portland is a youthful team with super capability and that they had have the potential to grant the Rockets a annoying fought sequence. interior the 1st around.
