The problem is I feel so very alone. My mother is the only person I can ask for help, but she is only emotional supportive when everything in her life is just right. Any financial assistance is always considered a loan(I put myself through college-and always paid her back when help was needed)Pretty much she is unreliable(she left my siblings and I from age 2-16). I have no friends to lean on, and I don't know if I can handle all the stress of transferring my life into single-motherhood. I've been stay-home-mom since he was born(he's 14 months now), and although I have a plan and have taken some action, I'm scared to death, I am emotionally drained from the situation(the abuse towards my son was caught on tape-immediate action has been taken) and I truely don't have anyone I can trust, but my own physical and spiritual strength. Has anyone else been through tough situations alone and how did you cope?

I encourage your independence & I am a child of divorce. My father was heavley on drugs in the 80's & physically abused my mother from the time they marriade ( he shot guns, beat her ,hit her with bottles ) . My mother did not have the best relationship with her own mother you see my father was self employed & wealthy He baught off my grandma quite often for her silence & or assistance. When my parents divorced I was quite young 5 yrs old but my memory is very long & unforgiving . I have people who I know stay in relationships for the sake of their kids . Well I was kid once now I am barely 29 NO MAN,WOMAN or BEAST better put there hands on me nor my kids . Did you see the "burning bed" , with Farrah Faceit ? Things don't have to come to that sometimes you have to put yourself above all others including your kids . If you stay you will exhaust all energy until you become suicadal then who will take care of your kids then .

There are support groups. You need to find someone to talk to you. Find a battered womens shelter for help or law enforcement should be able to get you some information.
