Ok, ive heard many contradicting stories about fetus' getting hiccups...

well im 36 weeks pregnant and my son gets hiccups a MIN. of twice a day, and sometimes it is rather annoying, but really there is nothing i can do about it...

is it true that a fetus' having hiccups means his system is working good???

or is a old wives tale that it means the cord is wrapped around his neck???

it cant be too bad if the cord is wrapped around his neck, isnt it that one in every three babies born, is born with the cord wrapped around there neck???

thanks for answers

when i was pregnant, my son got hiccups right around the time i was trying to go to sleep. it took me like 2-3 months to figure out what was going on, i would sit there and think: is he really kicking and moving around that fast or am i losing my mind?? but i finally figured it out and felt like the biggest moron ever. this by the way is my confession to my stupidity. but yes it was annoying especially when i was trying to go to sleep. i have never heard of the cord being wrappedaround the neck as the cause of hiccups, but ask your doc just to be on the safe side, or if you have another sonogram due, ask them to check for you. good luck and congratulations, i hope you have a healthy boy!!

i have three children and each one of them have gotten the hiccups while i was pregnant with them ... it is TRUE that it means they are developing very well, however the wives tale about the cord bieng wrapped around the neck and causing the hiccups is FALSE the cord can wrap around the neck for a number of reasons; 1. they shift positions so frequently that it becomes tangled 2.during pregnancy you constantly reach above your head causing the cord to intangle itself (because for the first 8 months the baby's head is normally pointed up (until the 9th month when the baby turns down for labor)and with the head bieng up and reaching above your head you stretch the abdomen and cause it to entangle ect.... and 1 in every 5 babies are born with the cord wrapped around thier neck.....hope this helped

Your baby is fine.. There is no exact answer, just alot of theories, as to why babies hiccup in the womb. Aadult hiccups are caused by an air imbalance, but there is no air in the womb.. . And it does feel funny to mom... Just enjoy.. You will miss that kind of stuff when the baby is born...

And as far as the cord... the umbillical cord is very long... most babies will become tangeled in it some how... perfectly normal...

Hiccups are totally normal. It doesn't mean the cord is wrapped around your neck. An ultrasound technicial can tell you if it is or not.

That's happened to me, the feeling is wear, but my doctor sad that it was normal, that everything was OK, so just enjoy your pregnancy, feel your baby is symptom that he is OK.
