CT , Congratulations on your chioce of bikes. Now what you need to do is find a Motorcycle safety endorsed riders school so they can teach you the right way to ride and shift. They take on all comers. From someone who has neer ridden to the experinced riders. I have been riden' for 37 yrs and they taught me a few tricks this "ol dog didn't know! Vocational schools and private schools offer this course. Just make sure it is MSF endorsed and after taking the course you can skip the state riders exam (a sun of a gun to pass as they flunk you for 1 mistake. Go to your local DMV and get a book on the rules and regulations for MC.Get your temps and go to school Hope to see ya on the highway someday. p.s. pay no attention to scallwag as P51 Mustangs are far ,few and in between (not to mention VERY EXPENSIVE)

Im not trying to be rude like a lot of the other people but if you don't know the shift pattern that means you've never rode a bike which means you should look into getting a beater to learn on. You can probably pick one up pretty cheap, around $500 or. Trust me after you drop it a few times you'll be glad you left the Harley in the garage for when you have more experience. If you do decide to get an old beater to learn on get a batterey tender for your Harley so it'll be ready to ride when your more comfortable riding.

HeyHey95 is 100% correct. Buy an old bike that you won't care about dropping before riding the Harley. Also, take the motorycycle safety course. It is a great course to learn how to ride. I also wanted a Harley as my first bike but bought an old smaller Honda and rode that for a couple of summers. It really makes a difference when you get on a bigger bike if you already know how to ride.
Also, make sure that you wear safety gear, helmet, jeans, gloves, boots.

It ability you like Roadkings. i'm uncertain how her decision of motorcycles performs into this equation. you may desire to easily be the main stupid guy or woman in the worldwide. Like the rest, people like extremely some issues, you think of this lady is warm and you like her, she likely thinks you're a fricken street King driving Douchebag and thinks you're a azzzzhat. a motorbike is a motorbike, you likely have your pressed Harley undies pulled so tight up your backside which you will no longer see with the aid of your Moco colours and your Harley bandana. this is posers such as you that make something persons ask your self why we journey a Harley. you're a poser and valuable spend extra time admiring your motorbike interior the storage and putting out on the Dealership than you do driving. I journey a sportster via determination. You journey your roadking considering you think of it makes particular, seem interior the mirror, your no longer.

Take the MSF course in your area/state before you worry about what the gear pattern is.....BTW....it will be stated in your manual.
A suggested reading so you know your bike top to bottom.

I bought a P-51 Mustang. I have never piloted an aircraft. What is that thing on the front that looks like a great big fan?
Seriously, you should start on a much smaller bike.

1 down, the rest up.
A Japanese cycle would have it marked on the case.
Please read the Owner's manual, especially the parts about all the stuff that can kill you.
How did you get it home?
