have talent, come to the table with something original. get your name out there anywhere and everywhere. be what people need, even if they do not know it.

Ok I'm not going to say to believe in yourself and blah blah blah. That's important but I don't believe it's what you're looking for. I used to be a well known local musician and I'm now a program director for a radio station. To be honest it is very hard to make it especially if you want to make it big. You MUST record a demo. It could have just like 5 songs. Make sure they are original songs. Send the CD to all stations, not just the ones that play the genre that you sing. Send it to record labels. Send it to promoters and agents. Seriously send out like 200 CDs. And then play at any local venue you can. Do exactly what the venues want. Get ahold of big local indie bands and maybe even send them your demo. Ask to open for them. Even do karaoke. Become friends with venue managers. It's all who you know at first. And then hopefully the labels will start coming around. And the biggest thing... ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be professional. I hoped this helped. Rock on homie.

I know this isn't quite an answer, but what in music do you want to do? Sing? Play an instrument?

you have to have talent and be something different but that sooo depends on which genre you are going into...but dont get yourself to thinking that you are different and talented cause thats just all in your head....you dont hear exactly what you sound like...but you should know if you have talent by the peoples reaction...there is more to it than just this but theres no time to explain it all.
