Your doctor had seen your child so don't be so alarmed. Your child could have discomfort from teething but could not figure out exactly the location. Could be also an obstruction of his eustachian tube due to colds which is really an annoying experience for him. As long as he takes his milk/food,and no foul smell or discharges from the ears, then nothing to worry. Try to help relieve his colds and if his teething seems to be painful, then try to offer mild analgesics.

I have a 1 year old and he has been teething non-stop since he was 7 months. He is working on his 9th tooth now. I took him in and the doctor told me that ear pulling was a sign of teething BUT ALSO ... that babies will pull on thier ears when they have a headache. He said if it seems to be really hurting to to use baby teething gels or tylenol.

I think they are confused sometimes about where the pain is coming from. He still could have a ear infection. His ears could have been just getting infected and not turned red when he was at the doctor. If he gets fussy or starts running a fever I would call the doctor back.

My daughter does/did the same thing.. The pain is in the gums and jaw line which travels to the ear so as long as you know he is teething I wouldn't worry about the ear pulling.

Ear pulling is a symptom of teething. It is a way of comforting themselves while teething. And, sometimes residual pain shoots that direction. Just give him some salty crackers to chew on. The salt will help the teeth come on through. My little girl pulled her ears so frequently that she scratched them and had them red.

yeah my baby did the same thing when teething. apparently it is very common, god knows why they do it! i also went to doc and no ear infection. the doctor also said it could be a sign of frustration, that the ears are not necessarily painful, but it is something within reach to grab and pull....

Anbesol is something you can buy over the counter and rub on his gums. It will help alleviate some of the teething pain.
Yes, pain from the teeth does translate into the ears.
You can try some baby aspirin to help with that.
Teething and the pain associated with it is one of the first ways a baby that is otherwise well cared for learns the fact that there is pain in life.
Be there with him, hold him and comfort as best as you can.
Still, he and all of us learn to experience pain and cope with it.
Be there, but be relaxed. He will get over it.

He probably has wax in his ear. The only thing you can do is ask the doctor to check for wax and have them clean it out or check and make sure that he don't have an ear infection now.
