Socrates observed thousands of years ago that the youth of his time are loudmouthed, disrespectful, etc. Nothing has changed much. IIt's more a matter of the immature adolescent brain than of the "youth of today" being any worse than those of any other time or place.
One thing that embarrasses me, however, is people who flaunt their ignorance and predjudices, as if it were something to be proud of. But that doesn't seem to be just a youthful phenomena. There are people of all ages who do this.

You can't blame the youth without examining the parents.
Ah, "I didn't inhale" Billy B- Job ...well, ah, what do you expect from kids who grew up called, "Moon Child", and "Flower" while romping naked in Woodstock? The next generation doing the boogy-woogy while on acid with disco balls, followed by the MTV generation (Madonna & Aerosmith), sure now the youth is Britney & Paris junkies, but ah ... there's been no stopping the fall since the 1950's.
I'm suspicious about socialism. Sure, public schools sound great ---> but really what was taught by a "free ticket"? Laziness, maybe? It seems with each decade, the government is getting bigger, fatter, and doing less. Soon Hippie Hilary will be demanding we all pay for "Universal Health Care" so she can take "God" out of dying.
Light is in those who see this and want to change. I say it's not the governments job to give the light, but religions to shine and bring back morals. Since government says, "No GOD here" ... well, we'll get more knowledge with no way to find wisdom from our forefathers.

Being part of the youth I do think that some of us are disgraceful. We cant be held totally accountable though. Not to mention it's only going to get worse because of most of the misgided youth are having babies and that is going to create more misguided youth.

No. It's America's preoccupation with youth that's embarrassing.

Yes! There are very few that are excellent role models for their peers but they usually get picked on. Most of them are pretty lazy too, they drag their feet all the time, and of course, their parents (the people that I truly blame) don't do anything to change this. And teenagers are the worst. Even though I got along with most people, I couldn't stand the way a lot of them treated each other. I guess I was ahead of my time.

No. If anyone is an embarassment, it's the so-called "adults" in American society. Their education level is so low and their obsession with the youth is getting worse and worse.

Yes, I'm sick of seeing them shucking and jiving and wearing their pants around their knees. They can't put a coherent sentence together and want to join gangs. Pathetic.
