I'm not trying to sound like a know it all, but some people give the most rediculouse answers. Why?

For the points and the attention.
Climbing a hierarchy by demonstrating competence is a drive in many social species, including humans. This site gives people a place to do this, that's why it's so fun and so addictive. It's a good place to connect with others and propogate your ideas, whether your ideas are truly worthy of propogation or not.

they probably do it to get their points, but it's possible that some people really believe in what they are saying. if they haven't had the same education, they really may not know. it could be very innocent
