Volunteer!

You can walk dogs for your local Humane Society, or visit old people in nursing homes, or deliver food to shut-ins if your city has a "Meals on Wheels" program, or be a volunteer tour guide at a local museum or nature preserve or historical site, or you could tutor elementary school kids, or volunteer at your local hospital, or join a political campaign for an issue or candidate you support. Really, whatever your interests are, there is a volunteer opportunity somewhere out there that is related.

Here is a good website that might help you out: http://www.volunteermatch.org/

You can gain good skills from volunteering such as: communication skills, working with the public, and learning how organizations work; plus you might learn a lot of things related to whatever volunteer work you do, whether that ends up in politics, animal care, health care, history, nature, the elderly, or young children. Last, volunteer work looks darn good on a resume!

Good luck.

restoring classic cars...id imagine you could buy one for cheap, fix it up and learn the mechanics of a car, then sell it if you wanted....only thing is that it takes a lot of money and space to do that.
