This dog (skin and bones) came to my house a year ago. I cared for it for 2 days and fell in love. He was starved when he got here but i took care of him, My mother called animal control. The lady came and picked him up, but he was abused in his former home. 2 days a week i go to his house to see if the dog is ok, (secretly) but the owner keeps him on a 2 foot chain, he can barely reach his bowl. I help the SPCA (im only 12) and i raise money for animals in need. I love animals, and i want to save this one. I Pray to god to let that suffering dog make it to my house again, but my prayers are never answered. I want to save him, and i need help. Ive thought about stealing him but i know id get caught. I love this dog, i know its just an animal but I really feel sad for him. What do i do? Ive been praying for his safety for a year now, i want to help gods creation....Im really confused...what do i do? im only 12...what can i do?

Talk to your local SPCA (the one you help out). They must have an animal protection section. If you lodge a complaint, they have to check it out. Then they can help the dog if he is being abused.

Enlist your mom's help. If she hasn't witnessed the dog's plight herself, show her what he's going through in his new home. If she's as big of an animal lover as you are, she will call animal control herself and report what's going on. They are more likely to take her seriously than they are you (don't take it personally, but a lot of adults are idiots when it comes to kids....I remember feeling helpless on many occasions when I was your age). If animal control gets a complaint about the dog's treatment, they are legally required to make an inquiry. If they deem his living situation is lacking, he will go back to animal control to be adopted out once again. Then he's up for grabs, and you can talk to your mother about adopting him yourself.

And don't do anything rash like stealing the dog. I know you said you won't because you'll get caught, but I know how tempting it can be. Just remember that yes, you WILL get caught, and then people will take you much less seriously. Which will hurt both you and the dog in the long run.

Oh, and since the man who now owns the dog isn't real pleasant, I would NOT recommend you and/or your mom approaching him. If you do and he refuses, and then you report him to animal control, it could end up coming back to you. The man could say that you're just trying to take his dog away from him by any means possible.

Good luck, I hope you're able to get the poor thing some help!

Get your dog. You're only 12. That's a good excuse. Plus people will give up dogs to kids. If I really wanted him, I wouldn't care. Or just knock on the door and tell them that the dog was taken against your will and you want him back, and you'll pine your heart out until he's with u again. IF u really want the dog, don't take no for an answer.

Make a formal complaint to the SPCA about abuse, and keep making complaints until they listen and take the dog from the owners

call animal control again. tell them that you want this dog. Also try talking with the owner. maybe your mom will pay him a couple bucks, and he will probably give him to you for free or cheap, cause he doesn't seem to like him very much, if he is on a 2' leash

Have you spoke to your mother about this? If she agrees with you and would like to have the dog, perhaps you could approach the owner and make your case. It is possible that the owner may give up the dog to a family who would love him and provide a good home.

you can ask advice from adults around you for possible things you can do. It's an advantage that you're part of SPCA, I'm sure there's someone there who can help you.

Don't steal the dog, that would just be wrong and you'd just get in BIG trouble!
