I think it's great the police are doing these sting operations to catch sexual offenders online. But don't you think it's rather stupid for dateline to continuely do these dateline specials "To Catch a Predator?" I mean i know it's important to warn people about this sort of thing but it's just gonna get harder because the same people they're trying to catch are the same people watching the program. They're sacrificing alot just to boost ratings.

I understand what you're saying. But, I think that the ones who are watching just might stop in fear of getting caught. So I say run the programs everyday. I have a zero tolerance for sexual predators!!!!! And I feel that they can't be rehabilitated. They need to go to prison and stay there! It's worse than murder!!!! The persons being offended against will spend the rest of their lives trying to overcome what has happened to them. If they were murdered they'd be in a better place. So I feel the punishment for sexual predators should be more harsh than it is for murder. Sorry... just had to say my peace. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

I can see it from both sides. I think it's great that they are able to catch some habitual offenders that have been eluding police for a while.
I do think that Dateline is pushing the vigilante envelope here. They are baiting people and by making themselves {or the "teens looking for a good time"} available, in a way they are perpetuating pedophilia. Take away the supply and the demand goes away, right? Only in a perfect world, I guess.
Sometimes I watch the shows and am amazed by the number of offenders who had previously watched the show.

I agree that putting it on T.V. may give the predators something to think about. But I think it's great because it did let middle America know that predators don't only come from bad neighborhoods. It opened a lot of eyes to the fact that a predator can be a school teacher, a pizza delivery guy or the guy who does your taxes. Once we get the stereotypes out of our heads then we too can help prevent this from happening. Also you see those guys they have to be the stupidist group of people on the face of the earth.

But dont you think it'll stop some guys from doing it if they worry that maybe it's Dateline doing another show? And how many of these perverts talk about the show during the chats...then are stupid enough to show up anyways......my favorite is when they run from the police.....lord love taser guns

At first I thought the same thing but you know the "predators" don't know when and where these will take place. And plus alot of them are obviously so screwed up mentally that they will pursue their prey regardless of a t.v. show. Their probably on the net so much that alot of them don't even know about or watch the show.

It is good they are going after them, but I agree, it is silly to basically give the bad guys advance notice!
It's like the reporters who get mad at the generals for not telling them where the troops are & what they are doing! Hello, it is for their safety!
