I mean, it's too commercial! It's a "hallmark holiday" as my mom would put it! And if you are not with someone you can't celebrate it! Valentine's day sucks!

Yeah. I hate valentines day. It's nothing more than a scam to get people to waste money on cards, roses, chocolate, etc. to avoid the risk of their bf/gf/spouse getting mad at them.

Valentine's day sucks when you ARE with someone, because then there's the added pressure of what to get them. Yes, I too believe it's a Hallmark Holiday and a total waste of time. I'm not even getting anything for my bf, and I doubt he is getting me anything either. Oh well, we don't need a special day set aside to celebrate our love.

I have to admit, I do like the fact that as a waitress, I get to make more money, since it's one of the busiest days of the year :)

i agree we shouldnt need a day set aside to celebrate love, but on the other hand, i think its great to do that too. life can get hectic and this little valentines day can be a nice reminder that yes! our love does matter! a day of not quickly brushing each other off because we are into the "responsible groove" of paying bills, working...all the things that can become part of a rut. we got into relationships usually because of that lovey dovey feeling and life can sometimes dictate to us that everything else is more important. so no matter what day or time people set aside to celebrate their love is great, but for some, this is kind of a permission kind of thing that yes, its OK to put each other before the daily grind. im single this year and i still think its cute to see ladies wearing red or whatever...just them being in the mood, and couples being sweet to one another, or even of guys thinking maybe Cupid will target them...its a nice thing. like i said, i wont be celebrating it w/anyone, but hey, "Let the games begin!" good love to you all :)

I used to think so. When I was single, my girlfriends and I would have an Anti-Valentine's Day. We would eat ice cream and watch horror movies and talk smack about the guys we had dated. It was fun, sort of therapeutic. Now it's a special day, it's the anniversary of my husband proposing to me. We just like to spend it together. We might have dinner or he might give me flowers, but it's just a time to be together. I guess it's all just what you choose to make of it.

every one has there own opion, sure it all commerical but its just a bit of fun you dont have to enjoy if you dont want to and no you dont have to have a bf or gf to celabrate it with... its just a time were you can tell some one you love them and show your apperiation it could be your friend, mum, dad, or sibling...
but if you just think negativly about it of course it is going to suck...

i agree with you and your mom... just another reason to spend your money for no apparent reason, I mean shouldn't you show people you love them everyday instead of one particular day?
