I went in September last year and am also going back in March.
You can smoke as much as you like in the coffee shops but it is illegal to smoke on the streets and also to sell cannabis in places where they sell alcohol. You can smoke everywhere apart from on the streets even your hotel will be mainly smoking accommodation.
Make sure you go to one of the sex shows, and talk a stroll around the canals.

It would be hard to enforce as it is an EU country and if your from the UK you have a right of abode.All you would have to say is youve decided to stay and arent a tourist.
