If someone in his teens is in love with this girl but when he's horny or "in the mood" fantasizes about guys etc... what is it.. is it curiousity or does that mean that the guy is gay or bisexual?
Or is this completely normal?

(This is completely based on personal experience, so keep in mind that this might be different for other people.)

What you've described is exactly what happened to me in high school. I tried dating some girls and thought that what I felt for them was love. What I was actually feeling was an emotional connection from a very strong friendship, but nothing more. When I was "in the mood," I could only really think about other guys, and I never really experienced romantic love towards another person until I the first time I dated another guy.

It was all very confusing at the time, but for me, it was only because I hadn't fully discovered who I was. That can take time.

He could be in love with this girl but insecure. Thinking 'what if I were like this guy with her' or deep down, thinking someone else would be better at turning her on, or being sexier. I'd look at that.
