I was informed when signing up for Internet Service that if I put something in writing before my subscription date that I could continue to pay the discounted rate of $14.99 on request for continuing services with AT&T. Check your original contract. If it's not in there, it doesn't matter what you were told, the written contract rules. A contract cannot be extended by only one party, and big ISP's have little reason to continue such a low price to an existing customer.

When your contract is about to expire, threaten to leave the plan. The company will almost always offer you a great deal.
