I'm 14 and when I was younger I heard stories of older girls thinking that they were fat and I always thought that it would never happen to me. Now I'm very self consiuos about myself, not to the point of anirexia, but I don't feel comfortable going to the beach in a bikini and stuff like that. In fact I don't think I'm fat at all, I just have a pudge that I can't seem to get rid of, in my eyes, I look pregnant. I'm about 5'1" and 103 pounds so I'm pretty small but that pudge is driving me crazy. I've tried exercise, healthy diets, even crash diets but nothing seems to work. If this is how you feel or how you felt, please give me some tips or just let me know that it's just a phase and it happens to all teenage girls.

Most, if not all, girls go through this. For me, it started when I was about 13 and ended in the past year or so (I'm 21 now). While this might not be what you want to hear, it's what I wish I'd known at your age: Your body is the only one you'll ever get and if you love it, you'll be gorgeous. Beauty comes from the inside, so when you tell yourself you're beautiful, you'll exude beauty.
How I feel beautiful: I buy clothes that flatter the parts of my body that I love and don't emphasize those parts that I like less. (An empire waist, which is a seam just under the bust, is great at hiding that pudge!) I try to put on a nice piece of jewelry each day. I go to a hairdresser who knows how to cut my natural curls so they look good. Strange as it may sound, I feel more beautiful now as a size 12 than I did as a size 2. It's all about perspective.

If you exercise and eat healthy and you have that pudge go away maybe its baby fat I am not sure . When my niece was little and she still is she would gain a little weight normal weight and then stretch you stop growing around 16 or 17 or 18 and fully develop at 20 or 21. but if you really exercise and and do everything in your power and the pudge won't go away I mean this is only if you been working out for years talk to your mom or someone mature and close and educated about this. Please talk to someone about it first because you are still growing so it will go away. You will stretch.

It is a phase and it isn't. Most teenage girls go through this self consious stage as a part of puberty. Have you tried toning? I don't think you are fat if its just a puge, get some restaint equiptment at a gym and use them to tone out your body. The fat will turn in to muscle.
It is common to feel the way you do. Once you learn to be comfortable in your body then you shouldn't have any problems. It is natural and all girls go through it at some point in time. It is just part of the human way to live up to the certain standard as to how one should look. Not everyone is going to be stick skinny. Or never put on weight or have flawless skin, on ungresy hair.
Remember that there is awlays some one in a worse state, try to be greatful that you aren't in a condition that is bad like that. If you are dieting, make sure they are consistant. Eat healthy and exercise at the same time. Plain not eating can cause you to put on more weight belive it or not. You need to eat in order to lose weight.

I was a teen myself not too long ago but since no one has answered I felt a strong need to answer your cry.
All bodies are different. A body is like a car, computer, book, pen, etc. We all generally look the same and have the same parts that perform the same functions but our chemical make up and genetic coding is so different from anyone else that all you are really doing is causing yourself more stress (which can lead to weight gain) and gray hairs in the first place.
If you say that you are 5'1'' and weight only 103 pounds I wouldn't worry. If you are seeing those itty bitty things that we all have and call love handles than don't worry, once you get older you will discover what they are used for; that is if you haven't already.
You can't get down on yourself like this cause you look at other girls and then look at yourself. You need to look at yourself and see inside, see yourself and see what makes you happy!

I've felt that way before and I'm pretty sure almost every single teenage girl has felt that way at some point in her life, even with the perfect body. I have a litttle pudge too, but i found clothes that make if look flat and a way to make it look flat in a swimsuit. Don't worry though, for most teenagers its just a phase.

Your age is sort of where girls start to worry about how they look. I know I did! I'm 16 and still worry about all the little places that I think I'm getting chunky. I know it's hard, but don't worry about it. You sound like you are at a perfect weight- actually you're small! So don't worry about it. The truth is, boys don't like the real skinny girls because there's nothing to them. Everyone's going to have a little bit of a pudge! So sweetie don't worry about dieting. It can be dangerous. Good luck!

first let me just say crash diets r never the answer..... they actually make u gain weight cause when u dont eat for a long time then when u do eat something ur body turns it into fat cause it doesnt know when it will get fed again...... and i use to think i was fat (i'm 13 and dont know how tall and 125lbs.) but then i just stopped trying to figure out what others thought of me and stopped comparing myself to other girls.... i used to wear baggy clothes but now i wear more form-fitting and i think i look good..... u must realize that U R BEAUTIFUL THE WAY U R!!!!! and definitely dont compare urself to models, movie stars, ect. cause they dont even look that good.... u'll be fine and dont worry about "pudge".... i'm sure every1 else is worrying about their own "pudge" so dont worry..... like i said.... dont worry about what others think about u..... as long as u r beautiful in ur own eyes that is all that matters...... stay healthy and strong.. good luck and God bless

Well I used to fell like you. But really as tall as you are you shouldn't be that small. The average is about 110 lbs. but I don't want you to feel that way. What you should do when you feel like this is to do something else to do to take your mind off of your weight. Like: writing songs or poems, Drawing, or even reading. That way you'll feel good about writing the best song your friends ever heard or reading the last page of that 300 page book. And not worrying about if you look fat. If none of these things sounds interesting just talk to someone you trust that won't judge you and they can give you pointers.

yeah i remember when i was 12. i was so skinny ( oh what the hell. i'm still skinny), and i grew tall so quickly. the kids at school made fun of me and called me anorexia ***** and stuff like that. and when i was 14, i weighed about the same as you, but i was five feet taller than you. they were getting jealous and started to go on diets and hate me even more.
girls always have this kind of problem. it's not just a phase. even a 25 yr old girls still go on diets and make sure they still look good. if you keep complaining about yourself, you'll never be happy. just try to accept yourself and you'll feel much better.
