Isolationsists.

After WW1, the U.S. decided to stay out of European affairs taking a hands off approach to foreign policy and refusing to join the league of nations.

Hitler and Peal Harbor ended it

Wilson was re-elected President on the slogan, "He kept us out of war". People in the country did not want to get involved in the European war and Wilson played to this isolationist idea.
