My parents just paid to renew their Norton Internet Security.. in the middle of downloading it stopped and said there was an error. They exited the download and went to start it all over again and it picked up where the download left off. This happened 3 times. After the download was complete, they tried to activate the desktop icon.. but a window popped up saying "File corrupt." What gives?

Ok heres my advice. Get a refund for the Norton, go to avast.com for a free virus scan or go to mcafee.com and buy their firewall and anti-virus as it is a bit more expensive but it is the best and you can download an offline installer. It is the best there is and I have used it for about 3 years now and my brother is an IT tech and he couldn't manage to get into my computer. Avast is free and pretty good but mcafee is best.

Norton 3/10
Avast 7/10
Mcafee 11/10 (almost literally)

If you don't want to leave norton it is your choice. Your best bet if keeping norton is to contact norton support and they should send you a crappy help response within 3-6 weeks.

Did everything and still Trojans where getting by, and when I tried to uninstall it wouldn't let me said I was not the administrator it is my computer. Anyways if you can get rid of Norton's and download this free virus protector called avg free edition recommended by pcworld mag. It seems so far to work greet. I hope this helped

All I can say is Norton was nothing but problems for me & I only used it a couple months. I removed it. I use Winows from Microsoft & all I use for protection is what Microsoft offers for free & have had no problems whatsoever since. I have friends who experienced the same thing.
