My daughter didn't start drinking more than 16 oz a day until she was 10 mo. I always thought something was wrong but she wasn't losing weight and she always appeared to have enough energy, she started crawling at 5 mo. and still wanted the same amount. Now as a toddler, she still eats very little and I try not to let it concern me. She is a normal height and weight for her age. I even took her to the hospital to get a swollow study done because I was afraid that she wasn't able to drink. Just not so. She just has never been a big eater. She started solids at 5 mo. and wouldn't eat more than a few bites of cereal. She wouldn't even eat a whole jar of stage 2 until she was 1.

Talk to your doctor. If the weight and development is fine, I wouldn't worry. The only reason I can think of to swich formulas would be because of excess gas or irritability.

We tried the lipil, the only thing I can remember about that was my daughter wouldn't even look at it. Out of all the formulas it was the stinkiest, and worst tasteing. That might be part of it.

Has your baby always been taking 15 to 20 ounces a day? Have you started solids? Sometimes you have to slow down on solids a little bit because they may be waiting for the next feeding of solids... Your baby should be eating 2.5 times his/her weight in ounces... Switching formula is something you want to talk to your pediatrician about and no it's not good to put your baby on two different formulas. That can be very upsetting on the stomach... But it's okay to switch, but not constantly.

Is she eating solids?? Yes, you can switch formula, but that isn't going to change the amount of milk is is taking. Babies are different, I belong to a message board for parents, at ivillage.com and the babies there are taking anywhere from 16-40 oz. It depends on your child. My youngest at 6 months only took 18 oz a day then at 2 solid meals. Now my older child was taking about 50 oz a day. Your child will let you know if she is hungry. Oh I asked my dr about the differect in her eating because I felt it wasn't that much and he said it was fine.

Her lack of an appetite kind of concerns me take her to the doctor first about this. Those two formulas are basically the same and Enfamil has more DHA and ARA. Besides, the pred needs to know when formula is switched. Good luck

I had to switch formulas with my son. For 3 days I did 3 parts the old formula and one part new, the next 3 days I did half and half, then 3 more days I did one part old and 3 parts new formula. After that he was on the new formula. I would consult your pediatrician though before you change.

As long as the baby's gaining weight and seems satisfied, you're doing fine with what you're doing. You don't want them to take more than 32 oz in 24hours anyway.

You don't want to keep switching formulas because it can confuse their digestive systems and lead to problems - the least of which is diarrhea.
