They make a show of hating the rich to win the vote of the middle and lower classes. However, they use the poor (and minorities) as pawns in their agendas without actually doing anything to help their voting base. I don't believe their dislike for the rich is genuine and I do not believe their compassion for the average Joe is genuine.

I think it would be safe to say that, despite giving the public appearance of being "for the people", they work mainly for the interest groups who give them money and keep them in office. Politics is a career these days and no one wants to lose a seat.

Democrats aren't really on anyone's side.

Frederick Engels as far back as 1893, where he pointed out that the formation of a workers’ party in the U.S. was hindered by the “Constitution...which makes it appear as though every vote were lost that is cast for a candidate not put up by one of the two governing parties.” This allowed the electoral system to be dominated by two marginally different bourgeois parties, but both intimately tied and committed to capitalism.

Engels described the American political system as consisting of “two great gangs of speculators, who alternately take possession of the state power and exploit it by the most corrupt means and for the most corrupt ends.” Both parties were funded by big business; both were supporters of overseas conquest; both used troops to quell strikes; and both upheld Jim Crow segregation.

That didn’t stop the Democratic Party from trying to pawn itself off as a party of the people. One of the secrets of the success of the two-party system was the ability of the Democrats to sell themselves, in however limited a way, as an alternative to the “excesses” of the Republican Party. It projected this image as a means of co-opting, and ultimately destroying, any independent political challengers.

So the 'high class' aren't people? That's an extremely telling question, indicating that you view the 'high class' not as fellow human beings but merely as an abstract entity. Such dehumanization makes it a lot easier to justify seizing their property and otherwise abrogating their rights at will. Sounds like a Democrat to me.

Their own side... that is to keep themselves in power. This is done by making promises to many groups and not quite keeping any of them. If a problem is actually solved (poverty, jobs..etc) the reason to keep electing them would be gone.

I believe that democrats are for the people, because since republicans have been in office the economy has went down the
tube. Their were more jobs for everyone.
