It would be fair if the ideal were real. Unfortunately people who are called to jury duty have a tendency to not show up.
So this time its not the government but the people. It is untrue that they only pick dentists and doctors. i am a homeless female and they called me to jury duty this week. I am going

In most places individuals are selected for the jury panel by random selection of the registered voters. From this group actual jurers are selected by the two different sides of attornies each trying to select the best ones for their case. From this process a jury is selcted which is best for the case.
Juries (as seen in the West) are sourced within the Magna Carta. At that time they had more power than is generally accepted in the United States today. They could question the law as well as the facts of the case, they could ask questions during the trial, and they would set punishment if the verdict was guilty. More over, they were members of the local community that had understanding of the people involved in the case and the community ethics. They were more than a blank slate.

I went to jury duty today. I was completely surprised by how thorough the court was in selecting jurors. It took all day just to select 12 people. Every court is different, I suppose. By the way, the jury pool started out with just about the same amount of people from white and black ethnic backgrounds. Of course, they can only call in people who are registered to vote. There are other factors to consider too. Some jury members are disqualified if they have a bias, or if they have a record. Sometimes it can be harder to persuade someone who is highly educated than it is to persuade someone who is not. I don't think they only really select professionals. I'm a professional and I was not selected today.

Trails equipped through a jury? shouldn't juries be pondering on their perceived guilt or innocence of one among their friends? even as mutually making efficient that the law enforcement officials did their pastime ideal as well? yet even as juries are out construction trails, i wager lets go back to the old English equipment. the position the church or the feudal lord heard your case, then tortured you to lack of existence in a mode of exciting (for them) thoughts. or purely left you to rot, in the dungeon, on your human being waste, with out ever being formally charged with some thing. Or borrowers reformatory is often an excellent thanks to round up more beneficial colonists. i imagine i'd a lot somewhat be tried through a jury. somebody else can construct the paths...

Depends on the jury! Its sad that people can be wrongfully convicted of a crime they didn't do! Just think! If you where falsely accused of a crime and you where on trial and all of the jurors where your enemy at one point in your life! Like mabe in high school, or college. Do you honestly think they would let you walk?

What's the alternative? Thomas Jefferson once said that jury service is the second most important civic duty a person can perform, second only to military service.

The American Jury system is not 100% fair, but it's far, far more fair than many people in other countries get.
