unfortunately that would probably lead to a pass on a promotion, if you continued to remain employed that is. Why not make he/she up a little basket with a variety of cough drops in it. Halls, Vicks, Fishermans Friend, maybe even some hard candies that also help with a cough. You'll look like the hero that cares about them except in reality you're just trying to get a little peace.

He obviously can't help coughing - telling him to shut up isn't going to accomplish much.

maybe you should quit being one of those annoying women in the work place that pisses and moans about everything you think he enjoys coughing like that? oh and your response well why doesnt he quit smoking becuase it's his right as it is to cough

If you have that kind of relationship with him..sure...otherwise ..you might suggest something for the cough...............can you close YOUR door........you may have no options.other than to put up with it....hard to concentrate huh..
