They both have tons of applicants with nearly perfect (or perfect) GPAs and test scores. At that level, you're down to how well the essay, letters of rec, and extra curricular activities are.

You need much more than just good grades to get into schools like those. Those types of institutions look at your personal character (volunteer work, clubs/leadership positions, and other extracurriculars). Someone with a 3.7 and lots of leadership and volunteer work will be accepted before a person with a 4.0 and no extracurriculars. get involved and good luck

They're extremely hard schools to get into. You want your grades to look as good as possible.
