For all the smartasses - come up with a better answer than 'My name isn't John'.

Basically a 'dear john' letter is a letter telling someone you want to break it off.

Absolutely. I gave thirty years of my life to the US Navy/US Marine Corps. I just loved the experience. And of course it was my first and most deep love. A "Dear John" letter from many a great young lady did arrive, at leasta few..... I was not angry with a soul. GOD blessed me either way...............

I received one once, but that was after I caught my boyfriend in bed with another man. Yah, you heard me right. Needless to say the letter was not necessary. I sent one to a guy once because I was a freshman in college and was living the party life, which meant I had a slew of new guys to choose from. Quite bitchy of me, but it came back around to bite me in the but. Karma

I have been the receiver of a "Dear Jon" letter, I was in Iraq, and I don't know how, but she decided that she was a Lesbian... It is cool and it sucks at the same time.

In Sept I received a Dear Jane email---does that count? Ouch! No chance to discuss or explain. For me, clarification was important, so this method bugged me.

this is basically you. To the evil one, the Bible and the Koran will look "both maximum hateful products of literature ever written" because it condems evil issues. this is a demonstration of the particular shown reality that you stay in entire darkness and are a lost soul. So, you do not fool me.

Kind of. My x husband was having an affair and instead of fessing up and being honest, he left a card from "her" where I would find it, and I did and long story short, we divorced! I've been married to "the one" for 17 yrs. now and the x is dead, no kidding.

No, I did not kill him. He wasn't worth it, he drank himself into a massive heart attack. sad.

Receiver twice, in e-mails, giver once, in an e-mail. What a cowardly way to break up with someone.
