I have a '98 Oldsmobile Cutlass and I can hear the fan really struggling when I turn on the air (hot or cold). There's 5 levels on the knob (5 being the strongest air flow) and on level 5 it moves like it's on level 2, it's just really weak. Then, it'll stop completely. If I switch it to defrost it also won't work. Then it'll all of a sudden come on, but still struggles to work fully. Is it wiring or the fan...? Also, if it's bad wiring, does anyone have a ball park idea of how much it would cost to repair? I'm kinda freaking out because I have an 18 month old daughter and I can't be driving her around in 20 degree weather. Please help!!

You have a bad fan moor. Have it replaced.

It could be the blower motor, or possibly the fan speed switch. A bad, worn or corroded connection in the switch can have the same effect. I'd check that out first - it's a lot cheaper than shelling out for a new blower!

Well I dont think its wiring, but sounds like a your blower motor is dieing. Srry I wouldnt know how much it is to fix as I usually do my own car work.
