It will be interesting to see how the 2008 GOP primaries play out. Assuming Iraq is the mess that it is now, (or even worse), Bush will be radioactive. Yet how do you make the argument to keep a Republican in the White House while at the same time having the GOP nominee distance himself from Bush’s disastrous foreign policy.

The pre-2006 election answer would have just been to continually and aggressively label whatever Democrat got the nomination as a weak liberal who wasn’t strong enough to defend America. But the American people proved that such an argument doesn’t work anymore.

If I was a Republican, which I am not, I’d look to Rudy Guliani to be my savoir. He can present a “tough guy” image but, unlike McCain who’s been Bush’s BFF since the ’04 GOP convention, he is completely separated from the Bush administration’s policies. It still might not sell in November ’08 but it would be their best shot by far.

certain, 9/11 had actually no longer some thing to do with the invasion of Iraq. The invasion replaced into using Saddam no longer following the UN sanctions positioned on him more beneficial acceptable than 10 years in the previous. The Iraq conflict would have finally exceeded off with or with out 9/11 taking position. no matter if 9/11 would have likely sped up the Iraqi difficulty using reality the opportunity of Saddam gained't were tolerated anymore.
