Its Filipino because our country was basically named after a spanish prince, fillip II, and I think it turned as "Philippines" when we were colonized by the Americans after our spanish era...

Contrary to Lousechi, Philippines came from the name of prince Philip II not Filip, there's no such spanish name as Filip... it's Felipe in spanish for Philip. But in history books, the prince's name that time was written as Philip, that was during the American occupation in the Philippines. Anyway, Philippines was named after that prince and we were referred to as Philipinos in english or Pilipino in Tagalog. But during the 80's I think, the DECS (department of education, culture and sports) revised our alphabet to better cope with our present language which has so many borrowed foreign words which don't have direct translation such as french fries... we don't know how else to call it. So instead of the old alphabet "a-ba-ka..." they modified it to modern Filipino alphabet "a-b-c... n-ng..." and since then they started using F for filipinos... which I DONT KNOW WHY cuz philipinos makes more sense to me.

originally Filipino but because of the spelling of the country (Philippines) where Filipinos live, it has been spelled as Philippino in many books.

Real Filipinos spell their nationality as FILIPINO. Some foreigners would spell it like PHILIPPINO but that is not generally accepted here...

Filipino.

The Spanish name of the Philippines is "Las Islas Filipinas," named after King Felipe II of Spain. Ergo, it should be "F" & not Ph.
