I was thinking the Hindenburg(sp?). is it very interesting or is there another interesting event? also, what would be two good people to compare and contrast.

Neither thing can be American. It is for World History and the teacher doesn't want it to be a project for American History.

For an interesting event, research the sinking of the Lusitania, a very tragic yet fascinating event that is to this day debated. Also, the murder of the Russian royal family in 1917, tragic and still debated. Also, the Soviet Union launching the first satellite, Sputnik.

For comparing and contrasting, I would suggest Jesus and Buddha, or Michelangelo and da Vinci.

I'm a World History teacher.

You want to come up with something original, and on your own. Try something you're interested in.

When I was a sophomore I wrote a paper entitled, "the effect literature can have on history: The Communist Manifesto and Origin of Species". My thesis was "Literature can completely change history" and I used those two works as an example of changing 19th century life.

Maybe you can prove that one person's personality can affect a nation's future. You can use Gorbachev, Pol Pot, Stalin, Idi Amin, Nkrume, Mandela, Mao Tse Tung, Chain Kai Shek.

another fun thing to do would be to look at three revolutions and find common factors causing them, and then, when you have your comparisons, your thesis can be "Revolutions are caused by blank, blank, blank"

You can maybe prove how everytime a major Muslim leader is given the chance to escape into exile, his followers flock to him and he comes back with a vengeance. Muhammad did this, as did two North African Muslims. (I'll let you look them up)

why not do a story about the discovery on insulin about how many died before it came and how many now live because it was found . it was 2 canadain doctor banting and best from alliston ontario. you could then carry on right up till now with this new discovery of a way to give the insulin by inhalher instead of injection. its a story that really shows how one single disocovery can change so many lives.

as for a comparison how about really getting into it and comparing u.n. sectretatry obrain and bush.

Try something most people won't write. I'd say the Khmer Rouge, Titanic sinking, or the French Revolution. For the comparisons, you can try evil leaders this time like Hitler, Hussein, and bin Laden. You could try Churchill versus Hitler, good and evil too.

I would like to know more about when the Olympic team from Isreal was murdered in their hotel because of their religion. I think it happened late 80's or early 90's. Could be wrong. And no I am not Jewish or Muslim.
