She is absolutely right because every"thing" has a name. Therefore nothing can be just a "thing". People commonly use this word when they can't think of the proper name for that "thing". Tell her that it was a really good statement - it really made me think too. As for the "Thing 1 & Thing 2" in Dr. Seuss, I think they are meant as a way of having children be creative and try to figure out what type of creatures they are.

What she meant was that everything had a proper name. Such as a thing you cut down a tree with is an Ax a saw or a chainsaw. However read the Cat in th Hat and you will discover Thing 1 and Thing 2 disproving her statement.

Perhaps there is some truth to that statement. According to the laws of life, everything is temporary. So even if there were a "thing", it wouldn't last forever because it would eventually cease to exist. Yes, the mustard can't understand why the butter always repels the flamingo assault on the fifth day of June.

I think she has a point there... cause if u ever say I want something... ppl would never know what u want... therefore there is no such thing... it doesn't exist...
