If you're not allowed to hate the president, then its not a democracy you're living in. I don't like Bush because of his policies, but nobody thinks I'm wrong because I don't like him. In fact, a lot of people say I'm right to hate Bush. It is perfectly acceptable in a democracy not to like the leader ... just vote for somebody else come election time, or stage protests and open up blogs against the leader.

First off let's get back to the issue at hand. You said "the president" not "the President" so I'm interpreting that to mean the Office of the President and not directly President Bush.
Is it ok to hate the president? Sure, as long as you don't act on that hate. But the better question is why you would hate someone you've probably never met. I can disagree with the policies of a president. I can disagree with the outcome of his or her decisions, but still could have no grounds to "hate" them.
As for the broader question pertaining to THIS president; well, I "hate" his policies, but I respect the Office. I believe the job of President is bigger then any person that sits in front of the desk in the Oval Office. Presidents have been despised before, so I think the title's still safe.
As for being right, what does that have to with liking or hating the president? Being "right" is subjective. "I don't agree with you, so you're obviously NOT right, I am." (Boy, isn't that the root of our problems...)
And thinking we should support the President BECAUSE he's the President and that not liking him somehow shows a divided and weak country is ludicrous. "A house divided cannot stand." If we were so divided, we wouldn't be debating about whether we liked him or not, we'd be fighting about it.
Look, I don't care if the terrorists and/or other nations see us as divided. I don't care if they feel "emboldened." I care about keeping them from coming over here or anywhere else and killing people. But I think the better way to keep them from taking up a gun or strapping themselves with explosives is to give them a job, or to show them that their lives can be made better. I think a person would rather work and eat then fight and die. I think pointing a gun at someone only makes them scared that you'd do it again, and so they arm themselves so they won't ever have to feel so helpless ever again. And I don't want my friends who serve this great country to have to come home in a flag-shrouded box because we weren't willing to stop, think, and listen.

Charles Manson is hate, I don't feel that way about our President. I thoroughly disagree with his policies and the way the executive branch with the help of a republican controlled congress, effectively gained control of the government and led us into a clusterphuck. I don't need to be right, I would like to see "what's right" happen, and it is, the republicans lost control of congress. The Presidency next.

It's not just so wrong to hate the President, but it's wrong to hate anyone.
If you were sitting in his seat in the oval office, would you like it if people told the world they hated you? How do you think that makes our country look to other nations? Do you really think it makes us look united or divided?
There are many things that he does that I do not agree with; there were many things that Clinton did that I didn't agree with, but I didn't hate him. Except for the sex scandals, he did a fair job, only he quit doing his job after a point. He dumped it into the lap of this administration.
There is always a paper trail of events and circumstances. We can sit here and judge people all day long, but is that our job? Or is it our job to be supportive so that our nation is not divided?
People from alll over the world come into this site and I'm certain that Iran's president also has this stuff read to him and don't you think he and everyone else, including al Queada isn't laughing up their sleeves at us? The president saying something and everyone who is against the idea of this war perpetrating slander against him? We look like a bunch of raving lunatics to the rest of the world. I don't understand why people do not think of these things before shooting off their big mouths.

It's wrong to hate him as a person because in reality President Bush is one of those southern gentlemen types, his policies and ideas on the other hand you can do what ever you want with. Nonetheless, President Bush is a good person, for example in a visit to Singapore I think it is. People were protesting against him, even though they couldn't do that to their own leaders, he doesn't do anything, but congratulate the people for their expression of freedom even if it was towards him. He's a man hat wants to spread democracy around the world. Think of it like this: Bush believes that if one man is enslaved then no man is free, and freedom in its purest form exists under democracy.

It is good form to respect the office. That's why is it is occupied by a crooked cretin as at present, you should oppose the individual usurping said office.
Don't waste your hate on bush, God hates him, and that is sufficient.

Do you know the meaning of hate? Look at the religion of Islam.
Yes it is wrong. He was duly elected. If you don't like what he is doing, just vote him out of office. He will be gone in two years anyway. Then you will have, most likely, an idiot Democrat. You will again, most likely, hate him also. It is the nature of the Demos to hate.
