I am writing a paper that links past to present. I am going to do it on how much a womans role and other things have changed since them. The things I have already thought of our like we work outside of the home more, we have been elected to government offices, we are staying singe longer, we can be single moms without being looked down upon, ect.

Anything you can think of would be helpful.

Right to vote.

Don't have to be ashamed of our sexuality anymore.

We are no longer taught that sex with our husbands is "our duty".

Can have a baby without a man, just need to pay a sperm bank.

We are closing the gap on the wage differences between men and women. Can you believe they used to pay us a different wage standing next to a guy doing the exact same job? It still exists of course in the upper levels, but not so much in the lower paying positions.

We are more aware of our bodies and our health. They have made big advances in health care for women and take us more seriously at the doctors office and ER. Unfortunately, women are now at a as high or a higher risk for heart disease, previously considered a man's health concern. This is partly due to our being out in the work force more and stress. Actually, we have a lot more health issues than before due to poor diet and lack of time to exercise because we are gone a lot more and playing two roles. Home and work.

I think the modern women are viewed as being stronger and more intelligent than women used to be. Our opinions are more highly valued than before.

More opportunities to be whatever we want, without limitations.

Swimsuits... take a look at some of the pics! WOW. Girls wear less to go out on dates now than they used to wear to go swimming.

Unfortunately, we now believe that "skinny" is the way to be. 1950's women were supposed to look curvier. It was vogue. Now you have to be anorexic or a stick model or the media makes fun of the celebs for being fat! We have more 9 yr olds starving theirselves to be thin because it's what everyone on TV looks like.

mschvs_65, <=== stated she could have a baby with out a man.
All ya need to do it find a sperm bank. AAAAA, the last time I had heard of the procedure at the sperm back it required a donor of sperm to stay in business which require a MAN as a donor.
mschve, you may raise a child by yourself. Put it still involves a man to get you pregnant.

In the 1950's most children came home to mothers who were at home to greet them. There some women who worked in factories on assembly lines and various other type jobs, but they where not like the women of today who are going to college and becoming lawyer, doctors, and technicians, and becoming CEO that we have now. The women made the home work back then & held it together. Don't know for sure if it is the reason, but women stayed home and ran the home and the divorce rate was a lot lower that it is now.

Women in the 50 did not have the faintest idea how to cut a mans penis in the 90s women cant have enough of it.

In the 50s a woman had gentle, persuasive power in the society that she is gentle and should not be mistreated, now she has become a wild unpredicatble thing and her favourite sport is male ballbusting infact a new cutomary way of the woman greeting any man in 21st century is to go for his balls first.

In the 50s married couples tried to raise a faimly now in 21 st century its more like discovery channel nobody knows who there father is even though his money is theirs.

In the 50s a man was looked down upon going to prostitutes now in 21st century this is his only option even the HIV doesent scare him off.

Wow what progress maybe you should consider renaming yourself from woman to noman.

My mother raised us all in the 50's when I was a kid. I can tell you first hand some of the differences.

The 50's were a time of prosperity. And women were easing back into the home as their husbands settled back in after fighting in the war.

The word teenager had not been invented yet. Computers were a dream of the future. Rock and Roll was still just being born. Ed Sullivan ruled Sunday nights. Cigarettes were everywhere. Movie stars were starting to shed their clothes led by Jane Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe. It was, basically, the last days of innocence for America and Canada. People still trusted their governments. Cars guzzled gas.

Women went to school, but most had the main goal of marriage to a winning man and the house in the suburbs. Their whole life was aimed towards being a good wife. Virgin of course. She had to be able to do it all and work outside the home was not at all necessary. House and husband and children, putting her own needs last. Of course the Christian and Catholic Churches still had great influence over the morals of the time. People still based much of their lives around the church.

Children knew who their mother was. She was MOTHER, not their friend, she was their mother. Her role was defined.

Most of America lived this way. It was solid and created a strong family based society. This was not wanted by the Illuminati. A strong society can fight back.

Entertainment changed a lot of these basic American values. Suddenly it was cool to rebel and discover angst; the generations began to separate as emphasis became placed on youth rather than experience.

Music changed everything. I know it is not politically correct but I think women were sold a bill of goods with feminism. I am NOT speaking of a woman's rights to advance in the world and earn a salary equal to a male. I am speaking of the fact that now, instead of taxing just the husband, the breadwinner, the government taxes TWO incomes! These women now have generated a new tax base with day cares and the costs associated with working.

Meanwhile she still goes home at the end of the day and has her husband and children to be with. It is not conducive to a solid family to have both parents out of the house. Either parent it does not matter. But once women hit the work force in great numbers, there was an increase in problems with the younger generation.

Women now can have anything. And many go for it. Some succeed but only with a lot of support on every level. Women back then had women's bodies. Now they have to fret about being skinny enough and push themselves to be physically perfect. Now a makeover is not just new blush, it is hundreds of thousands of plastic surgery! Different values.

But for most women it has backfired. It has also helped create a climate where men do not feel responsible for their children and that has created a generation of lost kids. It has ended up with mothers who are "friends" with their kids and as a result no one really knows whose rolls are what. This blurring of the lines is not all that great in the long run.

Now having children is more a choice because women have more control over their reproductive rights. The science of birth control is superior. The medical system is more highly advanced making it possible for women to postpone childbearing until they are older. In the 50's you had them when you got married.

The world was bigger in the 50's. And more innocent. This was all reflected in the women of the time. That is not necessarily a good thing, it just was.

Women then did not have to deal with the same things with their children. Things are much more complicated now. Now instead of discussing the "birds and the bees" a woman discusses "how Thomas and Pierre had a baby".

“mankind has taken a wrong turn and appears doomed to destruction”. Until men do not take the lead in a positive way, there is no hope for any of us. The agenda of destroying families and trying to convince the new generation, as we have been brainwashed with feminism, that homosexuality is acceptable and normal can only lead to more darkness.

This is the world of the modern woman.

Smially the difference is that old fashioned almost obsolete word "commitment". It is no longer hip to commit no matter how much is spent on weddings. The media is chockablock with stories of entertainment slaves unable to commit... this leaves an impression. Shows like Sex in the City effect a whole generation of girls. Commitment is just not meaningful anymore... in a personal relationship. And if it is, people still make it even harder to maintain.

Look at trends in post-secondary education and the fact that more women are entering 'the professions': law, medicine...

Also, look at women's changing role in the so-called 'hard' sciences: medicine, engineering, computer sciences...traditionally male terrain.

EDIT:

Just thought of two more: women entrepeneurs, and women in the corporate world.
