Why are you singling out women who shop at Wal-Mart? Are you laboring under the illusion that men don't shop there? It's time to look at yourself in the mirror - you clearly have some pre-conceived notion about those who shop at this place, and it's time to lose the self-righteousness.

All companies have some sort of an attendance policy. I work in the corporate office of a Fortune 500 company and we, too, get written up for more than 5 tardies or unplanned absences.
Your employer expects you to be at work when you are scheduled. If you have personal or family issues constantly getting in the way, you are an unreliable employee in the eyes of the company. You are given a reasonable number of excused tardies or absences. If you exceed it, no matter what the reason, your employer has good charge to fire you.
No employer should be forced to keep an employee who is constantly late or calls in.

Didn't know all this was going on. I would tell my children the truth. I have noticed where I am from a lot of people wanting to leave Wal mart and look for another job but never asked what was going on because they were on the job and could not go into details.

"To all you women who continually shop at wal-mart?" is not a question, it is a statement. Your question should have been; Do you know what kind of company you spend your money with when you shop at wal-mart?
Oh yea, if you don't like the job, leave. Get an education and maybe you can qualify for a better job!

I know its not fair. I work for them and now we have to call an 800 number to report absences. If we have 4 in a 6 month period we get a verbal warning, 5 written up, and 6 we get fired. We are not allowed to call in or be absent for a year if we don't get fired. Our manager does understand when things happen though, like accidents or terminally ill children. I just think its bull.

Unions have been boycotting wal-mart for a while now. Why not employees and the American consumers as well.

Wow, there's alot there, but sometimes companies that want to get rid of a certain employee look for absolutely ANYTHING to fire them. The reason could be poor work performance, it could be that she does this 4 days per week, or something else.
