I have not done so well in high school. My current GPA is 2.50 and I have three Ds as semester grades. After high school I plan on attending a community college, Diablo Valley College (DVC), and then transferring to San Jose State University.

Will I be accepted? I've been told that state colleges do not accept students with Ds nor Fs but that they are also easier to get into. If I do really really well in DVC and plan on transferring to SJSU, will they accept me?

When you transfer from DVC, San Jose State will just be looking at your DVC grades.

I think you show a lot of motivation, and that will count. The thing you need to understand is this: higher education is a business, and as such it is in the market to make a profit. Universities make profits by getting more students, and they do this by establishing a good reputation. Thus, the more students admitted graduate in 4 - 5 years, the greater the university's success rate. And, the more attractive it will be to politicians. Of course, there's always sports, but that's a whole other ball game. No pun intended.

Anyways, your GPA of 2.5 is low, but not terrible. The grades of D and F show that you are failing your classes. Do you know why you are failing? College admissions want to know. And what they really want to know is, how well are you going to perform academically? See, if they give you a chance, and you fail, then they lost your spot to another student who could've passed and went on to graduate and then, well, increased their graduation rates.

A concern that comes up for me is how you plan on doing "really well" at the community college if you haven't passed high school classes? You may want to consider whether or not you know how to study effectively. If you decide that you do not know how to study and retain information, then get help soon. It's also harder to retain information on a subject you are not interested. But that's part of life, you just deal and try to pass.

Good luck in your endeavors.

I believe that if you are applying to a college as a junior year transfer student, the college does not look at your high school grade, but rather at what you've been doing in the community college for the past two years. If you've done well, As and Bs, and have some solid reccomendations from teachers, you should get in no problem.

Good luck!

in accordance with a number of the grammar already displayed interior the solutions on your question, you will think of that they suck. however the certainty is they are a number of the final. California has between the final state college systems interior the country. instructors are large; for the main area they do the coaching. a lot of massive call inner maximum faculties hire their professors to study, no longer coach. it incredibly isn't the case interior the CSU and UC systems. We truthfully have a lot of suggestions that different states have not got. we've faculties on the seashores, interior the mountains, interior the huge cities, interior the small cities. yet another bonus is they are very much less high priced and furnish large financial help suggestions. Our public secondary faculties would opt for some help yet a minimum of our faculties rock.
