Well I haven't played them all yet, but I would go with Age Of Empires (I, II, II, Mythology etc). Personally they all look great to me, but the one I enjoyed most was Age Of Empires: The Rise Of Rome

age of empires 3. what a game i wasnt a fan of these games untill i was given one as a present. i cannot stop playing it. i think i need medical help lol.

nicely you're fascinated in an open resource pastime called 0 A.D. it jogs my memory of age of empires notwithstanding it is thoroughly loose to acquire and play. at present it is in alpha finding out yet its very playable and fairly exciting.
