I have Hot Chillys for underneath, tight black ski pants, and an assortment of jackets and vests: black, brown, white, and a preppy blackwatch plaid. I'm taking some cute sweaters, but do I need turtlenecks for underneath the sweaters? What types of gloves, socks, hat do you recommend?

I recommend that you wear lotsa black and throw in white, grey, red or pink accessories. Dont mix too many colors. Limit it to 2. It is very chic and sexy. You wanna look good wherever you go, even skiing. When I went, I wore my hair down and straight with a black fur headband to cover my ears. A white turtleneck and black form fitting jacket. Black leggings with tall furry boots to match the headband. Oh and black chenille gloves. I kept it simple. I didnt wanna wear 100 colors and end up looking like a child or clown. lol

Don't wear a turtleneck- they've been out of style for years! I think what would be really cute with your pants would be a Hollister or Abercrombie and Fitch Bomber, which they are selling on eBay brand-new for pretty cheap at the moment- so check them out! For hats, just get a cute pink pull-over one that is knitted- they will look great with your coat. Socks, people don't really see, so smart wool is very warm- they sell it at a lot of ski shops and sports stores. Gloves are also best if you go for warm ones. Check out the ski gloves at the ski shop while you are buying you socks. Also, one more thing, if you don't want to buy a whole new jacket, I think you should go with the brown one because it will look good with your hat- unlike black, and white will blend in with the snow, so it might be dangerous. (Other skiiers on the mountain who are going fast may not see you and run into you). But, then again, if you are a preppy person, use the preppy blackwatchn plaid. But, I still recommend the brown.

i always wear turtlenecks while skiing. but it also depends on where you are going and how cold. If it is like california spring skiing in april, you could get by with sweater and t-shirt with the jacket.

i have fleecey gloves, long thin socks for ski boots (some version of ski socks from REI), and hats that are either the beanie style, fleece, or a headband. I never wear hats with brims, like a baseball hat, as they usually do not stay on. I love the fleece neck guard things instead of a scarf. they stay on when I am swooshing down the hill better and can be used to keep chin warm.

as far as fashion and color, I can't help, I wear my black snowboardstyle pants, red and black jacket and usually black accesories. that's about it. I am there to ski, not put on a fashion show.

the key to skiing and staying warm is to dress in layers that breath. If you ski hard enough you will sweat and sweat makes you cold if it cannot escape.
