G'day,

There are 2 ways to help making up your decision.
1. The study. First of all you will need to find out which institutions offer the area of study. Best way to do this is by visiting www.idp.edu.au. It is an organisations owned by the Australian Vice-Chancellors committee and you can browse the kind of study you want, the level and what sort of services or amenities that the institutions offer. At this stage, browse for all the universities in Australia.
2. The weather. As you have already mentioned that you would prefer somewhere warm during winter, then I strongly suggest that you limit your choice to the states of Northern Territory, Queensland or New South Wales (border to Queensland). Even though Western Australia has some tropical area, all of the universities are centralised in Perth, which is the South-Western of the state. So it still can be abit cold in winter.
3. The place. With a lot of wildlife, I would suggest you narrow it down to the institutions in the countryside. Some universities in the countryside are James Cook Uni, Uni of Southern Queensland, Charles Sturt Uni, Newcastle Uni etc.

So there you are. Hope this helps in finding out the institution and the city you would like to study in. All the best and good luck.

I went to two places in Australia: Sydney, New South Wales and Cairnes, Queensland. Each have their pros and cons.

Sydney was way more of a big city. We went during spring break and the temperature there (in the fall) was around the 70s. Lets say its like the weather of North Carolina or Virginia. It was nice if you like it a little cooler. As for the wildlife.. I know it's illegal to touch koalas in Queensland and the only place we saw any animals was Taronga Zoo. If you want a big city, then this is the place for you.

Cairnes was wayyy different. The weather was more like Florida's - hot and humid. I'm not sure of any other cities in Queensland, but Cairnes was pretty touristy and didn't have that "big city" feel to it. If you want wildlife, I would recommend going here. Not only is there the Great Barrier Reef, but in Queensland it is legal to touch and pet certain animals (like koalas). It was really cool.

If you want to go to the Outback, then you should think about going somewhere West.

I hope this helps :)

When I was in high school, I was an exchange student and lived in Australia for a year. I lived in a town called Toowoomba (Queensland) it was a small town but great. About 2 hrs. from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. However I was able to travel so I spent time in Roma, which is inland and hot and then in Rockhampton, which is North. If I were you study somewhere that will allow you to take in all the culture you can. It is an awesome country, you will love it.
