O/D means over drive...its telling you that you hit a button somewhere that turned your overdrive off. this isnt a big deal if you arent driving in bad weather...Look in you car manual for where the switch is located so you can turn it back on. It is usually located on or near your gear shift...you know the thing you move to put the car in park or reverse. It really isnt a big deal if you just drive it to the dealership they can show you were the button is...they wont charge you for it either

That particular light will flash when the computer detects a problem in your transmission. You need to have your car scanned to determine the trouble code and which component is faulty. This is common on Mazdas and if your car is a Protege, expect that the trans will have further problems soon. It may need a shift solenoid cleaned or replaced, and that would be a best case scenerio. I've seen several of these cars run fine with that light flashing for awhile and then the problems start. Get it scanned as soon as you can to prevent unnecessary further problems.

Ford or Mazda?? This means there is an error code in the transmission computer. Get the codes out with a scanner tool and go from there. Possibly a code for torque converter or selenoid. Good luck.

A flashing O/D light is telling you that the computers in the vehicle have sensed a problem with your transmission. Best bet, take to a dealership to have them run the codes.... there are some transmission shops out there that can run codes as well, so if you know of one, take it to there, as well as the dealership, and compare the notes.
Good luck.

Sounds like the overdrive is disabled. On my mazda truck the switch is on the end of the gear shift lever. Look in your owner's manual and it should tell you where the switch is.
