Troy, was discovered in the late 19th century by an archeologist named Heinrich Schliemann. He actually fond, on the site, a series of cities built over successuve generations. As to the historical existandce of Priam, Hector, or the Trojan War. THOSE are still up for debate...but since the city iteslf was found....it might be that someone finds evidence that at least SOME of those events took place or some of those people actually lived.

Troy existed at a point that would have effectively controlled access to the Black Sea. The Greeks were a trading people, and wanted access to the Black Sea. There are eminently possible geopolitical reasons for a war between the Greeks and the Trojans in Archaic times. The site of Troy has been discovered, and many of the layers of the city were destroyed by fire. Put those two facts together and a war between the Greeks and the Trojans is quite likely. How many ships were involved, whether the war lasted 10 years and whether it was ended by the stratagem of a wooden horse is unknowable, but unlikely. That Achilles was invulnerable except for his heel or the Gods were involved and took sides are highly unlikely.

Well,yes...Troy did exist and the trojan war really took place.Evidence about it have been found due to excavations having been made. The actual reason why it occured was a straight commercial fight for access to the Black Sea trade.Concerning King Priam,Hector,Cassandra,Helen as well as Menelaus,Paris,Agamemnon and the rest of the figures of the epic poem are mythical, made up by Homer.

The Trojan war is indirectly completely based on the Lost City of Great Atlantis. Troy is a different story. The Trojan war is believed to have been fought between Atlantis and Troy in the books of Illiad and Odyssey. No one knows if Homer made this up, He probably wrote stories based on real life, and therefore, this must be true.

Yeah, there was Troy and there was actually a Trojan war. However, it wasn't fought because of Helen. It was some other reason.
The story of the Illiad and the Oddysey are just myths stretched out of the war by the famous Greek dude, Homer.

Yes, and Helen of Troy existed as well, though I'm not certain about the rest of those in the modern known story. They may have, I'm not sure. I am more knowledgeable on the Gods and Goddess's and their part in the myth of it.

They have found the cities, Homer was a historian in the earliest sense but at the time no one wanted to read dry boring reading and so he spiced it up a little, but remember at that time gods and goddesses were real and so his writing was as real as he could at the time write with his natural bias. Those people might not have existed but the idea was the same.

Many scholars believe that it was a fight over trade routes in the Mediterranean sea that caused the Trojan War.
