I'm in ninth grade and I'm really interested in phychiatry. What kind of classes should I take in my high school career? Also, do you have to have really hard math or just science? Plus, I'm looking into going to NYU to study phychiatry, what kind of grades do I need?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor. An MD. You'll need to go to medical school after college.

NYU is a top school in the country. You'll need nearly perfect grades, a top test score, and great extra curricular activities. To get into NYU, you'll need to show you took all the hard classes your high school offers, not just the science ones. That means hard math, english, history, etc.

You are required to take at least a couple of calculus courses for pre-med curriculum, plus the ones the university you attend requires you to take. So, take all of the math and sciences courses you can right now and get a good base for your college career. You need to have top-notch grades to go to medical school anywhere, so study hard!

I recommend taking AP Psychology in high school, it is a fascinating course, and a realtively easy one for an AP class.
